Name Position Role
Dr Yeow Hua Poon Chair Yeow is the managing director of People and Organisation Ltd. He supports business development between the UK and China, as well as governance and capacity building projects in a number of developing countries. He worked previously at Birmingham City Council and was a lecturer at John Moore University, Liverpool.
Yin Ming Au Vice Chair Yin Ming plays a leading role with organising our team of volunteers who help out with our luncheon and other community events. Although retired, she is an active member of our Wan Sheung dance group and Wan Cheuk choir, and actively participates in our health & well being activities.
Neng-Chien Tseng Secretary Neng-Chien works as a social worker for Birmingham City Council. His specialised field in social work is working with older adults who are over 65 years old and in need of support from the local authority.
Rachel Rui Hu Treasurer Rachel has worked in various finance roles at the International Office and Career Centre at the University of Birmingham in the past few years. She also gets involved in various projects helping international students to enhance their experiences while they are studying in the UK. Rachel has profound accounting experiences through her previous posts at Chinese Community Centre - Birmingham, Holiday Inn Birmingham and Birmingham City Council as a Financial Administrator. She has also worked for 5 years as a lecturer in Xi’an Jiaotong University, China.
Marcus Hawley Director Marcus is the Director of Blackswan Ltd. He is a Chartered Surveyor who manages, develops and delivers projects across a number of sectors focusing primarily on the Private Rental Sector. He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Surveyors and Secretary of the Planning Committee for the Birmingham Civic Society.
Wing Ching Lam Director Wing has worked in the NHS in Intensive Care and as a nurse in charge of a Psychiatric Acute Admission Unit. He has also worked as a manager and therapist in a Psychiatric Day Unit specialising in group and individual psychotherapy as well as providing support and treatments to clients with a variety of difficulties. After he left the NHS, he managed a Residential Care Home for the Elderly. Although now retired, he plays a key role in supporting our health programmes.
Brian Whitford MBE C.Dip.A.F Fiod Patron Brian is an international director with extensive experience managing businesses of all sizes. Brian has worked globally, successfully growing businesses and opening new markets. A member and Fellow of the Institute of Directors, a board member of the Chamber of Commerce and Chairman of the local parish council, he has a broad range of expertise and both private and public sector experience. He has managed global divisions for Alcan and Racal Electronics and has successfully established, built and sold businesses of his own. He has in depth experience in South East Asia and has established distributor and agency networks throughout the region as well as establishing a manufacturing joint venture in China.
