The project is currently enabling more than 150 Carers, as well as assisting their cared-for person to get the service or support they need. Along with our carers we have supported people with various conditions, including physical conditions or disabilities, mental health issues, learning difficulties and frailty due to elderly age.
We provide information and language support, signposting and referrals, advice and advocacy, and emotional support. Depending on individual caring duties and life situation, we have supported Carers to get the following:
- Carer assessment, direct payment arrangements
- Welfare benefits and housing services
- Transportation support
- Respite care, house adaptations and equipments
Comments from Carers
"Without the Centre's help I would never have known the benefits my husband could apply for nor know how to apply. I felt like that I have another family member who is helping me out"
"This is a place where we feel is our own place, we can get together here and organise our own activities here, we are free to laugh here, but not being laughed at, we laugh together."
"My husband has changed so much since he started to come to the Centre with me, he is much happier and more understanding. He helps with our carer's activities, which made him proud of himself."
